Break Up with Bread: Wheat is not your friend. It’s addictive and an appetite stimulant. Ok, fine if you have to hang out once in awhile, I’ll give you that. But don’t make it a daily part of your life. It’s not a friend, and there are no benefits. And Don’t Just Go Jumping on the Gluten-Free Train. Don’t assume just because it is gluten-free, it is healthy, It’s not. Make sure to read the ingredient list. You want to make sure you are still eating real food. Potato starch, corn starch and tapioca starch don’t count and studies have not shown if they are healthy as a substitute. Look for quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice and millet flours.

Bring on the D: Eat more wild Salmon, Sardines, Catfish, Tuna, Cod Liver Oil, Eggs, Mackerel, Shitake and Button mushrooms. Soak up more sun and take a Vitamin D supplement. Vitamin D helps prevent chronic diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes and heart disease. It protects your bones, teeth and hair, reduces inflammation and regulates cellular growth and healthy cell activity.

No Screen Time At Night: Put down the electronics before sleep. Screen time interrupts with your body’s natural ability to induce sleep. The light signals to stay alert and even if you do fall in a somber, the quality is absolutely compromised.

Swear off Sugar: Weight gain, weight management, fatigue, depression, mood swings, lack of excitement can all be caused by sugar. Change the way you think about food. Choose foods that help, not hinder. There is nothing good about sugar. Empty calories, wasted emotions and jitters only hinder. Here’s to kicking your Sugar Blues.

Yes, Eat the Yolk + More Healthy Fats: Loaded in lutein and the bad cholesterol lowering abilities, we need healthy fats. Think yolk, coconut oil, salmon, olive oil, nut butters, nuts, avocados. These are the fats that our bodies thrive on. These are the fats that actually make help with weight management because healthy fats help us feel satiated. So skip the saturated fats found in meats, cheeses and other dairy and load up on these fabulous fats. Yes, fats can be fabulous.

Drink More Water: Yes, you know this. So why don’t you drink more? Easy. Buy yourself a cute bottle, fill it with water and add a lemon slice or parsley, maybe cilantro. Refill all day. You can do this. Loose the bloat, the cramp and the pant size; gain energy, stamina and excitement. What is not to loose. DRINK UP.
